Then add cabbage, carrot and bean sprouts, cook until vegetables are softer and the onions are translucent. Yakisoba is a Japanese style chow mein made with wheat flour noodles, vegetables, and meat. Yakisoba literally means fried buckwheat noodles but the wheat flour noodles used are different from soba noodles. Vegetables usually include cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, onions, bell peppers, and more.

Steps to make Yakisoba (Japanese Chow Mein):
  1. First thing to do is chop up all your vegetables and separate. For the cabbage try to slice them in strips but try not to have the pieces too small. Id say like width of your finger is good.
  2. Next step is cook the onion first. Turn on the cooktop or stove to medium and pull out the largest non-stick skillet you have and warm up the pan. Than add in olive oil and the chopped onion. Cook until translucent. Now add in the beef. Spread them out and cook them until there not pink. Add as much as you like. I typically add a lot because I love beef.
  3. Next add in all the cabbage. It will seem like way too much cabbage for the pan but don't be alarmed just keep folding the cabbage into the meat and onion until it wilts and is more manageable. Next add in the broccoli, mushrooms and carrots. Cook until slightly soft.
  4. Now here is where the fun begins. You need to take out two packages of the frozen noodle and put the in your microwave for like 45 seconds to thaw them out a little. Do not remove from the little wrapper it's in when you put it in the microwave. Now the noodle should be somewhat soft and not frozen. Take the 2 packages out of the microwave and remove the wrapping and place them on top of the cabbage and veggie mixture. The square noodles should be side by side. See photo below.
  5. Now with your chopsticks or tongs take the cabbage mixture and put on top of the noodles. You should be able to see the noodle as they will be covered with the veggie mixture. The heat from the mix will soften the noodles even more. Let them sit in there for a minute or two and then with your tongs or chopsticks start spreading out the noodles so that they are not all clumped together.
  6. Once everything is spread out and mixed well now it's time to add in the Yakisoba seasoning packs and Tonkatsu sauce. Open the two seasoning packs and sprinkle over the entire pan. Mix well. Now squeeze out some of the Tonkatsu sauce into the pan and mix well. Add to taste. And now it's done.
  7. Take out the chow mien and put on a serving plate and garnish with chopped green onions. I hope you like this recipe. I will add photos shortly. Arigato from The Food Dude.
  8. Done and ready to serve!
